平日の昼休み、日本橋の「丸善」で本を買った後、近くのラーメン屋さんに入りました。丸善に寄った後には、たいてい寄るお店です。人気があるので、昼時はいつも相席。その日、私の前に座ったのは５０歳代と思しき、サラリーマンの男性でした。
彼は注文を終えると、テーブルの上のティッシュの箱から６〜７枚、ティッシュを抜き取り、それを自分のネクタイの結び目に巻きつけ始めました。そして、そこから真ん中あたりまで白く包んでしまったのです。実に器用な手つきで。
このおじさん、初対面の相席相手に手品を見せるのか？ 初めはそう思って、ちょっとうろたえたのですが、すぐに納得しました。「ああ、この人はネクタイに、ラーメンのスープのシミをつけないようにしているんだ」と。
ラーメンやカレーうどん、あるいはミートソースなど、麺を食べるとき、私もよくやってしまうんです。とくにネクタイやＹシャツにつけてしまうと水をつけても落ちないし、目立つから、おじさんのよく気持ちはわかる。
が、ティッシュを巻きつけるって……。
でも、出てきたラーメンをいきなり威勢よくすすり上げ、汁を飛ばす彼を見て、それが「苦心の策」であることがわかりました。
ただ、半分ミイラとなって、ぶらぶら揺れているネクタイを見せられる身にもなってほしい。
こちらはラーメンを落ち着いて味わうことができませんでしたが、このお店、お手ごろ価格のわりに、なかなかの味です。ぜひ、お試しください。
