微力ながら「STOP無印」中だった身としては、「これで来年の手帳が買える！」ということで、かなりかなり嬉しいニュースです。
入植地の拡大や空爆、ガザ地区の封鎖など、パレスチナ人への激しい人権弾圧を続けるイスラエルへ、無印良品が新規出店を発表したのは今年の春のこと。早くから環境配慮型商品やフェアトレード商品を扱ったりと、「地球や人にやさしい」企業のイメージで愛されてきた「無印」だけに、落胆や反発の声は大きく、「STOP無印良品」という不買キャンペーン（http://palestine-heiwa.org/muji/index.html）がすぐさま立ち上がりました。
そこから半年あまりでの、今回の「中止」発表。リリースでは「経済的な理由」となっているものの、そこに不買キャンペーン展開がまったく関係していない、とはちょっと思えません。そのあたりをちゃんと説明してほしかった、との思いは少し、残るのですが...。
ともあれ、「中止」が発表された後、ツイッターには「これで無印に買い物に行ける！」という喜びの声が溢れていました。「やっとあの新製品を試せる」「いつものアレを買ってきます」...そうそう、みんなやっぱり「無印好き」なんだよね。だからこそ、「無印らしくない」行動はしてほしくない、と思ったわけで。ここ（http://act.parc-jp.org/cyber/muji/message）にある、「イスラエル出店やめて！」のメッセージなんて、見方を変えれば「ラブレター」だったと思います。
近年、日本でもCSR（企業の社会的責任）という言葉がちょこちょこ、聞かれるようになりました。「企業だから利益追求だけしてればいい」のではなくて、やっぱり社会の構成員である以上、環境や人権や平和などの視点も含めた「よりよい社会」づくりに向けて貢献する責任があるはず、という考え方。どちらかといえばヨーロッパなどの企業が先進的だと言われるけれど、「それだってそもそもは、『ちゃんと環境配慮しないと不買運動するよ』『労働者の人権を守らなかったら告発するから』みたいな、NGOなどからの『押しつけ』から始まったんです。外からの圧力がなかったら、やっぱり企業は動かないですよ」という話を聞いたことがあります。
そう、「買い物」だって、立派な意思表示。こんな企業からは買いたくない、こんな企業だったら応援したい...。そんな声を、もっともっと私たちは「押しつけ」てもいいのでは？ ただ「ものを買う」だけではなくて、共感できる、応援できる企業を一緒に「育てていく」。それもまた、消費者の役割だと思うのです。
